How to transmit
Press the push-to-talk radio button (large on the side) and then speak in a NORMAL voice into the radio grill. Keep the button pressed until you finish your transmission, and then release to end the transmission.
Start outgoing transmissions with “DOE CIRC to ______”, and proceed with message
Doe South, Doe North, Security (SOC), etc.
Respond to “______ to DOE CIRC” with “DOE CIRC copy”, and await transmission
How to volume - on/off
The volume knob (Left) doubles as the on and off switch. Turn the knob clockwise (↻) and you should feel/hear a clear click which indicates that it is on. Turn the knob to the desired volume (be aware that if it’s too low you will not be able to hear transmissions effectively). To turn off, turn the knob counterclockwise (↺) until you feel/hear it click.
Station = Library at all times!

Sunday night - Friday morning
7pm: Radio on the circ desk (on charger)
10pm: Begin radio checking with info desk
Listen for “Info Desk Radio check” - “Doe North copy”
Respond with “Doe Circ copy”
2am: Stax tasked listening for security’s stacks all-clear
Stay in the Stax Box
Listen for “Security to Main Stacks (Info Desk) - Main Stacks is all clear.”
Close doors when Info leaves
Listen for “Info Desk Radio check” - “Doe North copy”
Respond with “Doe Circ copy”
6-6:30am: WL or staff will store radio in appropriate place
Inform security of unauthorized people entering through the staff door after the gate closes, especially if entering main stacks.
Doe Circ radio charging base should be tucked away at the circ desk when radio is put away.
Doe Circ radio stored away in 4-hour laptop cart
Friday and Saturday nights
5pm: Radio on the circ desk (on charger)
5:30pm: Begin radio checking with info desk
Listen for “Info Desk Radio check” - “Doe North copy”
Respond with “Doe Circ copy”
9:45-10pm: Radio put away in 4-hour laptop cart after inventory task and as carts are locked and stored away.
10-10:30pm: Circ waits for all clear at Stax box (aka when Info/Security walks by)
Close doors when Info leaves
Inform security of unauthorized people entering through the staff door after the gate closes, especially if entering main stacks.

Conduct Violation
If conduct begins to violate the Library’s code of conduct and patron does not respond to de-escalation, alert a supervisor and if necessary, alert security. Your safety is the number one priority!
