Do you ever wonder why people behave in certain ways? Do you ever watch people and think about the way they behave, observing their interactions? Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and we look at a range of behaviours from aggression to abnormalities and you will realise it is difficult to define what is abnormal, as it is very hard to define what is normal.
We study a variety of topics in Year 12 and 13 that keep you wanting more!
In Year 12 we explore Memory, which involves studying Eyewitness Testimony and is it reliable. We look at Attachment, Approaches and Biopsychology. We focus on Abnormalities, exploring Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Phobias and Depression. We look at what is normal and what is considered abnormal. We look at the methodology to conduct psychological studies. Also Social Influence - so why does someone conform or obey?
In Year 13 we explore aggression and why people act aggressively, are they born to do this or do they learn it? We look at Stress and how that affects your body and ways of coping. We focus on Gender and Biopsychology. We explore stroke victims and the effects that has on individuals. We look at Issues and Debates, such as the nature versus nurture debates. We focus on more ways of researching.
