Then delve into the world of tragedy and crime fiction with English LIterature where you will develop an in-depth knowledge of literary history, theory, and criticism, and enhance your understanding of a wide range of cultures and intellectual traditions.
Over the course of the two years, you will study 2 key genres, Tragedy and Crime.
The course will be centred around the following key texts:
• Shakespeare’s Othello
• Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman
• A selection of Keats Poetry
• A selection of crime poetry
• Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
• Ian McEwan’s Atonement.
You will also study a range of critical theories, such as feminism, marxism, narrative theory and postcolonial theory. You will then apply these to texts of your own choice.
