Marching Band is Social
The Marching Marauders are made up of around 55 students in grades 9 through 12. Before school even begins, you'll meet new friends in a supportive and friendly environment, including awesome upperclassmen who are eager to welcome you.
We kick things off with a student and parent meeting at the start of the season, where you’ll meet our Student Leadership Team, Marching Staff, and learn how the program works.
“One of the best parts about being in Marching Band is seeing familiar faces in the halls and at lunch on those first days of school—and throughout the whole year. It’s really great when upperclassmen know you and say hi during a long day!”
—Grade 10 student, 2019
Marching Band Builds Confidence
Everyone is a starter in Marching Band—no matter your previous experience. We teach marching and musical skills step-by-step during Orientation, Band Camp, and weekly rehearsals.
You’ll grow side-by-side with experienced members and be supported by our incredible Student Leaders. Everyone plays an important role and contributes to our performance.
“I’m usually very anxious about performing, so I’m proud that I was able to perform in front of big crowds—whether at a high school football game or on a street full of Disneyland visitors!”
—Grade 9 student, 2019
Marching Band is Fun!
Students return year after year because of the pride they feel, the friendships they build, and the memories they make. We also play fun, energizing music—and sometimes perform in amazing venues!

Attendance & Absence Policy
Attendance is expected at all performances. Rehearsal conflicts must be communicated in advance.
Missing part or all of a Tuesday rehearsal during game week = You won’t march at halftime (but will participate in stand tunes).
Use the Absence Form for any anticipated or last-minute absences: Absence Form
After two absences or partial misses, we’ll reach out to families to schedule a check-in to discuss ongoing participation. Clear and open communication is key!
Balancing Marching Band & Other Activities
For students involved in other BPS activities (e.g., fall sports), here’s our decision-making policy:
Band rehearsal (once/week) takes priority over sports practice (daily)
If there’s a game and band rehearsal at the same time → game takes priority
If there’s a game and a band performance at the same time → performance takes priority
For conflicts with non-BPS organizations, we’ll evaluate on a case-by-case basis
If there are any BPS athletic related conflicts, the student is expected to send an email to Ms. Lacasse and copy their coach, asking for guidance on decision-making for those conflicts. The above guidance is correct for most cases, but there are times when it requires more in depth conversation.
Be sure to mark your calendars now, and communicate conflicts as early as possible.
