I am excited to share that we have been invited to perform in a special parade honoring the incredible Cynthia Erivo on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate her achievements and partner with the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year program at Harvard. We are truly honored to be a part of this event! This is a last-minute plan,
The parade music will be in honor of Ms. Erivo’s outstanding performance as Elphaba in the film adaptation of Wicked, and we will perform a marching arrangement of the song “Defying Gravity”, the iconic hit from her role as the “Wicked Witch.” It’s going to be an unforgettable performance, and I’m thrilled that we get to take part in celebrating such a remarkable artist.
Here are the key details:
No rehearsal; we will rehearse the music during A and F Blocks Tuesday/Wednesday in the band room
Meet in Band Room to put on uniforms: 12:30 PM
Bus Departure: 1:00 PM from Belmont High School
Return: After 2:00 PM
Parade Route: Adams House Inn to Farkas Hall (parade is only 1:45-2:00PM)
Uniform: Marching uniforms (with thin warm layers underneath to keep you comfortable in the cold; black headbands are encouraged to keep your ears warm)
Please note that due to limited space, we will not be able to take the entire group. A sign-up form will be sent out at 4:00 PM today (Monday, February 3), so please be sure to sign up if you’re interested in participating. We'll build a balanced instrumentation out of the students who do sign up, and hopefully we can accommodate everyone who wishes to perform. The student leadership team is automatically being signed up to perform.
The community is welcome to attend and cheer us on, and we encourage our band families to come and support both our students and Ms. Erivo during this celebration!
I’m excited for the opportunity to perform for such a meaningful occasion!
With Pride,
Ms. Lacasse
