RAIN PLAN - UPDATE MAY 24, 2026
Dear Marching Marauders and Guests,
The town has decided to continue with the Memorial Day ceremony at the Grove Street Cemetery. The parade portion of the event is cancelled.
What this means for the BHS Marching Marauders (please read thoroughly):
Drum Majors and the rostered high school members of the MMB Brass Section will perform the National Anthem at the ceremony. Ryan Park will perform Taps. Your report time is 10:40AM at Grove Street. You should dress in appropriate rain attire (no marching uniforms). Instrument cases should remain in vehicles.
Guest brass players, all woodwind players, all percussion, and all colorguard: You are welcome to take part in the national anthem performance at the cemetery. It is strongly advised that woodwind players bring cases with you and have them at your feet. At 10:40AM, we'll determine if we will perform the typical Marine Band version of the national anthem (as we've been rehearsing it) or the new Brass Choir version that we rehearsed on Friday. No marching uniforms- appropriate rain attire.
If you are a guest marcher and have not yet picked up your T-shirt, you can do so at 10:00AM at the BHS Band Room. The band room will be open at 10:00AM tomorrow, and will promptly close after we return instruments to the band room immediately following the ceremony.
Please feel free to email back with questions - thank you for your flexibility and understanding!
Ms. Lacasse

This is a required event, planned by our top administration. As you can imagine, it will be a very meaningful day for our veterans in attendance. The roster of instrumentalists has been sent to the main office and your A block absence will be excused on this day.
The Band drop-off location is at the Grove Street tennis courts at Dalton Road and Bacon Road. Note that Grove Street will be closed to traffic, so students will need to walk across the park, cross Grove Street, and enter the cemetery entrance.
9:45AM Current marchers meet at BHS to put on marching uniforms. If you do not need to come to the band room at BHS to get your uniform or marching instrument, you can meet us directly at the cemetery. You will need a binder clip for your flip folder.
Door #3 and Band Room Door is locked at 10:30AM.
10:30AM Meet inside the Belmont Cemetery. Huron Ave. at Grove Street. Bring your instruments OUTSIDE OF THEIR CASES so that you do not have to go back to the cemetery after the event to retrieve your case.
11:00AM Ceremony begins inside the cemetery. Band performs The Star-Spangled Banner & America, the Beautiful. "Taps" is performed.
11:45AM Band takes their place on Grove Street outside the cemetery; the parade steps off.
12:45PM Parade ends at Veterans Memorial at Clay Pit Pond. Time is approximate.
Current marchers wear MMB Uniforms. Spring Season guest marchers will wear Belmont colors or the maroon MMB T-shirt (black pants are preferred, but if you don’t have that, no worries!). Sneakers are required for guest marchers. The shirts were provided this year by POMS. Thank you, POMS!
Parade shirts should be picked up at the May 19 rehearsal!
Please see the MMB Student Leadership Team to pick up your shirt.
Students should arrive in parade dress, carrying instruments (out of the case).
Hydrate in the days leading up to the parade.
Sign up for the Remind text group.
All flip folders and lyres should come back inside the “box” in the high school.
Students march to the flagpole at the BHS Main Entrance and gather for our last Drum Major dismissal of the season.
Parents, please pick up your child in the BHS parking lot.
