Practice Expectations

• Aim for 30 minutes daily (e.g., 15 min + break + 15 min, or 3 sets of 10 min).

• Focused practice matters—set small goals (e.g., mastering 2-4 measures at a time).

• Avoid just "playing around"—be intentional!

This year, BMHS Winds (formerly known as the "Chenery Winds" will be meeting on Tuesdays after school. The group will meet for two different "seasons" through the year. Students have the choice to participate in one or both seasons.

In the Spring Season, the ensemble will be able to travel into Boston to the Berklee College of Music and participate in a rehearsal clinic with Dr. Matthew Marsit. The rest of the day will involve group activities in the city, followed by viewing a live musical performance that evening. The field trip will likely return to Belmont at 9:45PM on Friday, May 23 OR May 30. Students must participate in all rehearsals; there unfortunately will not be absences allowed for other Tuesday activities (since we rehearse just once per week for 90 minutes). Please plan your Spring calendar carefully. 

FALL SEASON November 12 to January 23
Rehearsals: Tuesdays from 2:45-4:15PM

Concert: January 23, 2025, 6:30PM BHS Theater
Call time is 5:45PM on stage (please get to BMHS earlier so that you are ready to play at 5:45!)

Rehearsal Attendance

All members must attend rehearsals. If possible, schedule appointments around them. If seeking extra help from teachers, ask if they have flexibility so you don’t miss full rehearsals. All students should fill out the absence form if you intend to miss a rehearsal.

• Be seated and warming up by 2:35 PM; rehearsal starts promptly at 2:45 PM.
