Here you will find a lot of useful information regarding the AMS band program including our handbook, information on MakeMusic and Cut Time, as well as resources to help you develop your musical abilities. Below is a list of important dates for the school year. It is SUPER important that all students attend all required events for their grade level. We are a team so we must practice together AND perform as a team. Per the band handbook, concerts/performances are a REQUIRED part of a student's grade in band and attendance is required. Please add these dates to your calendar now so you can avoid schedule conflicts.
There are a few events that are optional (e.g. rental meetings, solo and ensemble, honor bands) although students are highly encouraged to participate. Additionally, this calendar does not include events for extra-curricular ensembles such as jazz band or percussion ensemble but they will be added as we schedule them.
AUGUST
20th - 7th and 8th Grade First Day with Instruments
29th - 8th Grade Band Night with the BHS Band (8th grade only) - after school until approx. 7:00 PM at BHS
SEPTEMBER
17th - 6th Grade First Day with Instruments
NOVEMBER
12th – 6th grade band concert at the BHS Auditorium – 7:00 PM (report by 6:30)
DECEMBER
11th - 7th & 8th grade band concert at the BHS Auditorium – 7:00 PM (report by 6:30 PM)
FEBRUARY
21st and 22nd - Weekend of Jazz (AMS Jazz Band Performs)
APRIL
24th - Mini Band Camp (8th grade only) after school from approx. 8:00 PM
MAY
2nd - Trills and Thrills Kings Island Trip - (waiting confirmation)
20th – 6th grade concert at the BHS Auditorium – 6:00 PM (report by 5:30 PM)
20th – 7th & 8th grade band concert at the BHS Auditorium – 7:00 PM (report by 6:30 PM)
28th - Last Day of School!
We try our best to get all performance dates out to families at the beginning of the school year but sometimes circumstances beyond our control cause to us to need to reschedule events. In the event that we need to move a performance, we will let families know as soon as possible.
