Pear Deck is an interactive presentation tool used to actively engage students in individual and whole-class learning. Teachers create presentations using their Google Drive account. Students log into the presentation with unique access codes and interact with questions while teachers monitor student and whole-class progress. 

Formative Assessment

Understanding where students are in their learning is crucial for educators to understand the effectiveness of their teaching and for students to be able to articulate how they know what they know. The use of formative assessment has 2 components. First, it tells the student where they are in their understanding. Questions that ask for short and quick responses are best and allow students an opportunity to gauge their own understanding. Second, and perhaps more importantly, formative assessment gives the teacher valuable feedback during the course of a lesson or learning. Peardeck is a fantastic tool that allows teachers to formatively assess students during whole-class direct instruction or an asynchronous, student self-paced, lesson.
