For this project, the prompt was to create something that reflected a social issue, I chose to focus on the rights of women and violence towards women. This is an important issue and I decided to create a piece surrounding it. This is an issue that I often do research on and the rights of women are important to me and I believe that it is important to bring awareness to these kinds of issues.In my piece I chose to use charcoal and colored chalk, I think that this shows an improvement in my use of charcoal and art skills from freshman year. Comparing it to my freshman year charcoal piece I think that it shows an improvement in my charcoal technique and shows that I can better create detail using this media. I think that it is important to use art to reflect sensitive issues and that is what I did in this piece to create awareness and thought.
