Year Two

Rochester & Upnor Class

In Year 2, we have loved diving deeper into understanding our world and the diverse environments that shape it. The children have enjoyed developing their understanding of maps, continents, and oceans. They have learnt to identify different countries and their capital cities, discovering the unique cultures, traditions, and landmarks that make each place special. They have enjoyed the hands-on opportunities to create and interpret maps, explore geographical features, and work collaboratively to solve real-world geographical challenges.

Through our units of inquiry we have investigated the concept of weather and seasons, discovering how they affect our daily lives and the natural world. We have researched different climates and habitats, from tropical rainforests to arid deserts, and discover the incredible array of plants and animals that call these places home.

We delved into the importance of sustainability and protecting our planet and we learnt about the significance of recycling, conserving resources, and making responsible choices to ensure a greener future. We enjoyed listening to a representative from Greenpeace who told us all about their projects past and present across the world. Through engaging discussions and activities, they developed a deep sense of responsibility towards the environment and understand their role as global citizens.
