What a week in Year 4! We started the week experimenting with material, texture and colour in Art Inquiry creating Viking-themed collage pieces inspired by our History Inquiry.
We then moved on to explore Line of Inquiry 3: An inquiry into how individuals and groups experience systems differently, using the key concept of perspective. The children compared healthcare in the UK, USA and rural Africa, looking in particular at how we may access medical care differently.
Discussions and research led to some thought-provoking findings, exploring funding, access and just how different basic healthcare provision can be. This also gave us an opportunity to carry out some geography — mapping these locations and looking at how environment and location can impact healthcare provision.
On Wednesday, we had the absolute highlight of the week, travelling to London to visit the Science Museum.
What an unbelievable experience for the children. We managed to include a personal, up-close opportunity seeing some of London’s greatest landmarks looking stunning in the glorious, bright sunshine. Excitement was high even before we arrived at the museum!
Once inside, we explored as many areas as possible, incorporating the Space, Transport and Medicine exhibitions, which linked so well with our current Inquiry. In addition, the children were so lucky to attend the ‘It Takes Guts’ workshop, which was high-energy and extremely informative. Well done to Bonnie for representing our year group so confidently on stage!
All the children were an absolute credit to you as parents, and great ambassadors for our Academy. A long but extremely memorable day. Since returning, the children have been writing recounts and have produced some beautiful work showcasing their learning. Well done Year 4!
