What a busy week we have had in Year 2! In English, the children have begun creating their own stories inspired by the Literacy Shed video Once in a Lifetime. Using the film as a stimulus, they are adapting the concept by choosing their own transport, animal and setting for their individual versions. This has led to a wonderful range of imaginative ideas, and the children have shown great enthusiasm and creativity as they plan their narratives which will continue into next week.
In maths, we have been learning about length and height. The children have taken part in practical measuring activities using rulers and metre sticks, as well as comparing different measurements and discussing their findings using correct mathematical vocabulary.
Our geography lessons focused on aerial photographs of Maidstone, where pupils practised identifying key features from an overhead view. In history, we compared Cobtree Manor in the past, when it was a zoo, with Cobtree Manor as a park today, encouraging discussion about how places change over time and using historical sources to support our ideas.
In art, we have been exploring collage techniques and have started planning a sea turtle collage. Donations of suitable collage materials would be greatly appreciated. In RE, we learned about Shabbat and its importance in Jewish life.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to bringing all of our ideas together in the final week of the module!
