Another busy week of being true inquirers in Year 1! The children have really got their teeth into improving their Maths skills around addition and subtraction within 20. They particularly enjoyed doubling numbers and using their Chromebooks to enhance their learning. It has been fantastic to see them confidently recalling their number bonds to 20 and exploring doubles, near doubles, and not doubles.
In English, the children have continued to grow in confidence with reading comprehension and have made us incredibly proud when constructing sentences using writing reminders and upleveled vocabulary. They have blown us away with their understanding of nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, verbs, and conjunctions, and it was wonderful to see them generating lots of different examples during our English disco!
During inquiry learning, the children loved discovering two significant women from the past, Edith Cavell and Florence Nightingale. They enjoyed recalling key facts, creating nursing hats and explored how relationships between people help to build a community, linking to our key concept of connection.
Once again, we are so proud of the children’s growing confidence and independence when navigating their Chromebooks to support their learning. There has been a real buzz across the cohort!
We are looking forward to spending the final week of Module 3 together and would like to remind you that the last day is Thursday 19th February.
Have a lovely weekend!
