Year One

This week, the children have made us incredibly proud with their inquiring minds and enthusiasm for learning.

In our inquiry, we explored different communities and discussed what makes each one unique. The children then worked collaboratively to design two communities, focusing on the key concept of connection. They thoughtfully created a structure to join the communities together, showing fantastic teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

In Maths, we have begun a new unit on addition and subtraction within 20. The children worked together to find different ways of making 20, using their growing knowledge of number bonds to solve a range of addition problems. It has been wonderful to see their confidence develop as they explain their thinking.

We also used our Chromebooks to enhance our learning this week. The children impressed us by building on their independence—successfully logging in, navigating their Chromebooks, and finding their slides and activities with increasing confidence. Well done, Year 1!

We are very proud of all the effort and progress the children are making and are looking forward to another great week ahead. 😊
