During the Work Session held on Tuesday, the BCSD Board of Education was given an update by Derrick Semilia, the Project Manager for Hammond Construction, regarding the final phase of the BCSD Facilities Master Plan. The challenges faced in developing a master schedule were discussed, which revealed that the timeline set by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) was inadequate for designing and constructing the new high school. Hammond Construction and ThenDesign Architects (TDA) presented the increased cost and additional risks that the school district would have to bear if they accelerated the design phase and began the construction process with incomplete blueprints. As a result, they advised that the new building would open at the beginning of the 2027-2028 academic year.
