City Schools is committed to providing our youngest learners with a foundation rooted in rich language, social-emotional growth, and hands-on discovery. In alignment with recent developmental research, City Schools has developed the PK-2nd Grade Academic Instructional Technology Guidance for the 2026-2027 School Year. This marks a strategic shift to decrease screen time and prioritize technology as a purposeful instructional tool rather than a primary focus for our Pre-K through 2nd-grade students.
The guidance provides recommendations by grade level and content area for the following:
Student device use time frames and digital tools
Teacher-directed screen time use cases
Assessment device use restrictions
Plan for and implement blended learning strategies and lessons in order to differentiate, personalize, and engage students.
Ed tech training and support resources.
