Pros

• The condo complex will likely include other worthwhile facilities, such as a gym, restaurant, pool – possibly with room service, shop and laundry.

• Apartment buildings always have modern security systems with CCTV and all these along with security staff. 

• Easier maintenance and upkeep. 

• Locations are usually near popular locations and closer to the city 

• Cheaper electric bills due to smaller living space (1000-1500 BHT a month)

Cons

• Obviously there is not much space, especially if you want room to cook and hang laundry.

• Limited parking can be a problem

• Noisy neighbors

There are many condos around Chiang Mai, here are a few options that are near the school and popular among teachers:

D Condo (By Central Festival)

The D Condo complex by Central Festival is a great option for new teachers living alone and still getting to know Chiang Mai. It has a cafe and the Central Festival Mall that are walking distance from the condo. The rooms are mostly studio rooms with just a glass sliding door to separate the bedroom from the living room. There is a lovely pool and small gym that you have access to as well. In this complex there are several different condos: D Condo Ping, D Condo Nim, and D Condo Sign. They each have different options for facilities and room sizes. 

Supalai Monte

Supalai Monte and Supalai Monte II are both located by Central Festival on opposite sides of the street and offer similar conveniences to D Condo. The nice thing about Supalai rooms is that they are not studio apartments and have a bit more space than D Condo. Supalai also has a nice pool overlooking the city and a rooftop garden.

The Astra Condo 

Astra Condo is a popular luxury condo located in another popular area on Chang Klan road. This is a great place if you want to be close to the city and walking distance from 7-eleven and other restaurants along that road. Prices usually range from 10,000 - 15,000 Baht a month. Facilities include a gym, swimming pool (on top floor with a nice view), and a green common area.

Facebook marketplace has a great way to view rentals in different areas and adjust your price range.
