Information and Services for Employees at British Concordance International School
Business hours are normally 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Employees are also expected to be present during business hours and to commit whatever additional time is necessary to satisfactorily complete all job requirements.
Additional requirements may include:
Lesson Planning
Grading
Duty Stations
PD/PLC
Clubs/After school activities
All employees are expected to arrive at work consistently and on time. Absenteeism and tardiness negatively affect the School’s ability to implement its educational program and disrupts consistency in students’ learning. Excessive tardiness will result in teacher fines.
Excessive is defined as more than 3 tardies per semester. In addition to arriving on time, employees are expected to clock-in and clock-out appropriately using the biometric finger scan system.
Each semester, staff are given 3 tardies/failed clock-ins or clock-outs without penalty. On the 4th tardy/failed clock-in or clock-out of the semester and every tardy/failed clock-in or clock-out following the 4th, staff will be fined.
The fine is based on the employee’s monthly salary:
20,000 THB - 34,999 THB is a 300 THB fine
35,000 THB and up is a 500 THB fine
**We will always email you a warning if you have reached your maximum number of tardies before taking away from the salary
UCIS employees serve as role models to the School’s students. All employees should therefore maintain professional standards of dress and grooming. Just as overall attitude and instructional competency contribute to a productive learning environment, so do appropriate dress, grooming and hygiene.
Employees are encouraged to wear clothing that will add dignity to the educational profession, will present an image consistent with their job responsibilities, and will not interfere with the learning process.
Some personal appearance and standards include:
Covering any visible tattoos
Remove any facial piercing
Tears in pants or articles of clothing is not permitted
Jeans are not permitted (unless during a casual day or special event)
All hats/hoods are to be removed when inside school buildings
Be self aware of body odor (cigarette/marijuana smell is unprofessional)
Taxes
After work permits are given, the school will start withholding Thai Income Tax.
The amount varies with the amount of the salary .
Please refer to the Employee Handbook (Page 24) found in our Documents page for tax that will be taken out.
Pay Period
Staff salaries are paid once per month. Paydays are scheduled during the 1st-3rd day of each month. If an employee observes any error in his or her check, it should be reported immediately to the Director of Human Resources (me).

Paid Leave
BCIS offers the ability to earn ten (10) days of paid leave per year to full-time employees whose contract begins effective the first day of an academic school year. Full-time employees accrue one (1) day of paid leave per month worked during the academic year. 7 of these days can be used as sick leave; 3 of these days can be used for personal leave.
If a teacher does not use all their leave days, 5 of them will roll over to the next school year.
Restrictions on personal leave:
Personal leave must be approved in advance by the Head of School:
Paul Penfold ( paul.penfold@bcisschool.ac.th )
Please note that Personal leave is not guaranteed and you will be notified by HR if your leave has been approved/not approved. In order for UCIS to approve personal leave, no more than 8% of the overall teaching staff across all UCIS buildings will be granted approval for personal leave on any given day. This is so the school can ensure adequate substitute coverage.
The only time you must get approval from Human Resources is if you wish to extend a holiday (i.e. take 3 days off before or after the winter break)
Personal leave taken immediately prior to or after a holiday will count as double (i.e. if an employee uses leave on October 12th, it will be counted as 2 days because October 13th is a holiday)
Approval will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis unless there are extenuating circumstances that are deemed a priority.
All staff are required to provide the following documents:
Copy of Bachelors Degree
Copy of Transcripts
Passport copies
Thai Background check (Document provided by visa department)
Background check from home country
Affidavit from consulate verifying copy of bachelors and transcripts are valid (US Citizens only)
