FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS - Here are some of the skills I'd like you to practice in Term 2
Parents - These are skills to practice in PE time. There is a video showing how the skill should be performed. Students can watch the video to get an idea of how the skill should be performed.
There are 12 skills that we would normally cover by the end of Year 2 and have a solid understanding of by the end of Year 4.
I have also attached a document that shows the elements, how to practice and common errors.
A lot of the games we would use for these involve large groups, but for now, students should practice the skills in order to help their progression.
Dodge and Two-Handed Strike
The following NSW PDHPE K-6 Outcomes are explored in this unit of work:
PD1-4 - performs movement skills in a variety of sequences and situations
PD1-6 - understands contextual factors that influence themselves and others' health, safety, well-being and participation in physical activity
PD1-7 - explores actions that help make home and school healthy, safe and physically active spaces
PD1-8 - participates in a range of opportunities that promote physical activity
PD1-9 - demonstrates self-management skills in taking responsibility for their own actions
PD1-11 - incorporates elements of space, time, objects, effort and people in creating and performing simple movement sequences
