For the 2020-2021 academic year, the Community Service Club will focus on empathy, education, and advocacy.
Students will begin the year by making connections between service and civic engagement. We will use resources from Teaching Tolerance, Youth Service America, and Reclaim Our Vote to learn about the history of suffrage and to mobilize voters.
After the election, students will engage in a focused unit of study about homelessness in Boston. Topics will range from COVID-19 to food insecurity. Students will have an opportunity to work virtually with Heading Home, a longstanding BB&N partner.
During the second half of the year, students will brainstorm key issues and causes that they would like to explore. Students will Zoom with speakers from local non-profits and design and execute service projects of their own choosing.
