The Teaching Certificate Programs are designed as stand-alone practicums for students who have previously graduated from Bay Path University with a non-licensure education-related degree. Students will have passed MTELs and/or obtained their SEI endorsement since earning their non-licensure degree and may wish to seek licensure at a later date. Students must meet certain criteria during the admissions process to be eligible for entrance into a teaching certificate program.
Currently, we offer the following Teaching Certificate Programs:
Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8, Initial Licensure
Moderate Disabilities, 5-12, Initial Licensure
Severe Disabilities, All levels, Initial Licensure
Early Childhood Education, PreK-2, Initial Licensure
Elementary Education, 1-6, Initial Licensure
All required MTELs passed at the time of acceptance
Successful completion of all required non-licensure courses at the time of non-licensure degree conferral
Previously taken and passed SPE 548 -OR- proof of previously obtained SEI endorsement
Spring start only
After earning your non-licensure education degree from Bay Path University, the applicant will need to apply with the graduate admissions office for their desired Teaching Certificate Program. The applicant will be required to submit ALL passed MTEL scores, and proof of passing SPE 548 or previously earned SEI Endorsement. As a Spring-start program, students will enroll and begin their program with Pre-Practicum/Pre-Practicum I.

EDU 553 for Early Childhood Education
EDU 554 for Elementary Education
Upon successful completion of Pre-Practicum, Special Education students will enroll in a Fall Practicum. Early Childhood and Elementary Education students will enroll in a Summer Pre-Practicum II. All will follow the practicum process described here.
