Thank you for allowing a teacher candidate to complete his or her educator preparation under your mentorship. Know that the University appreciates your efforts to help our students become competent and caring educators.
Below you will find important information regarding your potential role as a supervisor. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email the Field Placement Office. Contact information may be found on the School of Education Contact List page.
The supervising practitioner's influence on the quality of a teacher candidate's experience is enormous. It is the supervising practitioner who guides and assists the student in completing a successful and rewarding practicum. Although teacher candidates have completed pre-practica experiences, they are still beginners. They learn by trial and error, and will benefit tremendously from modeling, constructive comments and feedback. Remember that you are the most valuable person in the student teaching arrangement! Feel free to contact the program supervisor at any time, particularly if problems arise or are anticipated.
