ELAR stands for "Educator Licensure and Renewal".
It is the account "portal" for your MA educator license. To create your own ELAR account, click here.
Once an applicant creates a profile, their MEPID can be found on their DASHBOARD in their ELAR account.
The MEPID number should be located right above your name. If you do not see your MEPID number please call the Office of Educator Licensure's Call Center at (781) 338-6600 between the hours of 9am–12pm and 2pm–5pm M–F.
This number may be used in place of a Social Security number as an identifier when making inquiries or submitting documentation.
You are required to set up an ELAR account through MA DESE at the start of your program. Through this process, you will get a unique, 8-digit Massachusetts Education Personnel ID (MEPID) number. Bay Path University will ask you for this number at the start of your practicum. Please keep it handy when completing your practicum forms. Your MEPID number is used to endorse you for a license at program completion, and the only way for you to register for MTELs.
Through ELAR you can:
Store and view MTEL scores and upload transcripts and other documentation
Apply for, advance, or renew a license online
Check the status of a license/application
Make a payment
View a description of what documents are scanned into your file
Request a hard copy license
View correspondence from the Office of Educator Licensure
Print unofficial license information
To set up a profile, go to the MA DESE website secure portal and click "Create ELAR Profile." Find your MEPID near the top left of your ELAR profile page. Note: if a number is not generated automatically, try selecting to edit your contact information and then immediately hit "save."
MEPID stands for "Massachusetts Education Personnel ID".
The MEPID is a unique identifier assigned to all educators and to school district staff in Massachusetts. MEPIDs enable the collection of educator and staff data at the individual level from school districts to DESE.
A MEPID will be assigned to anyone who creates a profile in ELAR.
You need a MEPID # in order to register for your MTEL.
