Each pre-practicum/practicum site must be approved by Bay Path University. Written documentation and a formal written request for placements must be submitted to the BPU practicum coordinator at each site prior to the approval of the practicum site. Applicable forms for this documentation are listed below under your program.
All pre-practicum/practicum sites must be in Massachusetts and be within a 50 mile radius of where the student is taking his/her primary coursework. It is the responsibility of the local school/school district to conduct a CORI review. Fingerprinting is the responsibility of the teacher candidate or local school district.
All supervising practitioners (mentor teachers) must have an initial teaching license or higher in the same license field and level as what the candidate is seeking. Please speak to your practicum seminar instructor if you have questions about this.

Undergraduate Practicum Candidates must pass MTELs:
on or before July 15 to be eligible for practicum Fall.
on or before October 15 to be eligible for practicum in Spring.

GPA = 3.0 OR HIGHER
JULY 15th is the deadline for Fall practicum consideration. OCTOBER 15th is the deadline for for Spring practicum consideration.
Students are expected to work with their advisor to complete and submit a practicum application. Included in this application should be the following items:
Completed Application for Pre-Practicum & Practicum. This is a google form. Be prepared to submit PDF copies of your MTEL scores, degree audit, and resume within this electronic application. You will be prompted at the end.

Once you've been formally accepted into practicum, you will need to submit the the Practicum Setting Verification Form to communicate your placement to the Field Placement Office (FPO). You are also required to work with your Supervising Practitioner to complete the Supervising Practitioner Application. These pieces are absolutely required before your first day in your Pre-Practicum placement.
*IMPORTANT* Candidates will NOT be allowed to begin logging hours or hold observations until all forms, including the SP application and license, are submitted and the FPO approves.
