The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization founded to support the school curriculum. It has the objectives to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character and to encourage citizenship.
Students in the second semester of the seventh and eighth grade with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or above are eligible for membership. A qualifying GPA does not guarantee a student entrance into NJHS. Students are invited to hold membership, on the basis of five established criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
It is expected that members will maintain their high academic achievement and positive qualities which helped them receive invitation into the NJHS. Students may be removed from the NJHS if their grades or behavior no longer upholds the standards. (The NJHS By-laws can found on the BAS website.)
