Student use of cell phones at school is not permitted. If your child needs to contact you, they may use the phone in the main office. We ask that parents partner with us by always calling the front office for emergencies or communication. If you have any questions about your child’s ability to keep their cell phone off while at BAS, please keep the phone at home, otherwise it will need to be off and in your child's backpack.
We ask that our parents partner with us by:
Not distracting students during the school day with texts or phone calls to their personal devices.
Calling the front office for any emergencies or communication. (Leave a message if no one answers.)
Smart watches present the same concerns as mobile phones in terms of safeguarding. Students should not wear a smart watch to school.
Reminding students that phones stay off and in their backpacks for the school day.
Calls/texts/videochats/videotaping by students is not allowed.
No photos, audio recordings or videos should be taken in the building unless the student has obtained permission from a teacher for a particular assignment.
Phones may never be used on the playgrounds, fields, common areas, and bathrooms. The same rules also apply to the aftercare program.
Our reminder policy for students is as such:
1st time: Warning to student & parent; teacher takes the phone until the end of the school day, administration will document
2nd time: Notice to parent, device taken & returned at the end of one week
3rd time: Meeting with parent, device taken & returned to parent, student loses the privilege to bring a phone to school. (A contract will be agreed upon and signed during the parent/teacher/admin meeting.)
Disclaimers:
All phones/devices are brought to campus at the student’s own risk.
BAS is not responsible for lost or stolen devices.
