BARRY R. SMITH, NCARB, PRINCIPAL

From affordable local infill housing to luxury international hotels to sustainable housing and commercial buildings, Smith’s designs focus on the development of award-winning projects that are varied, sustainable and profitable.

A graduate of Tulane University School of Architecture in New Orleans, Louisiana, Smith introduced and taught a successful series of experimental courses focusing on urban design that blended into a city’s infrastructure, but also met neighborhood, governmental, investor, and environmental demands. As a classically trained architect with the city’s oldest historic firm, Smith’s projects included working on the first mixed-use, multi-family rowhouses in America, the Pontalba Buildings in the French Quarter.

In 1993 he opened the doors to his own firm and began leading the way in traditional, sustainable, and smart infill design. His approach to working hands-on with neighborhood groups and clients while satisfying the demands of government codes and budgets is unique. Smith is licensed to practice architecture in Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Florida, Colorado, Ohio, Arkansas and Louisiana. Barry Smith is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in Oregon.
