Playground Expectations
The primary concern of playground conduct is safety. Any student behaving in a manner that, in the judgement of the playground supervisor, endangers the student or others will be be directed to stop any such behavior and may be subject to further discipline.
General playground rules – 8:00am - 3:15pm
Children should be in view of an adult supervisor at all times.
No items from home will be allowed on the playground.
Tackle football is prohibited.
Do not sit or walk on railings.
No hanging in or playing in trees.
Children should line up quietly when the bell rings. Walk quietly to class.
Do not play in the breezeway or on the ramp; do not bounce balls in the breezeway...there are classrooms right there.
No play fighting; no war games or games including violence.
Frisbees and footballs are not allowed in the play-shed.
No spitting.
SWINGS
One child on a swing at a time.
Sit with your bottom on the swing seat.
Push from back only, no underdogs.
Side-to-side swinging is prohibited, as is twisting the swings...kids can get hurt.
No jumping off of swings.
RINGS/BARS
On the rings – feet down only, no upside down; one at a time, same direction.
Monkey bars – one person at a time; same direction.
SLIDES
Children should slide down slides in a sitting position.
Walking up the slide beds is prohibited.
Children are not to hang from the side of the slide.
One person at a time on the slide.
No sitting at the bottom of the slide.
BUDDY BENCH
Students can bring paper, books, crayons, and markers out to the buddy bench during recess.
Students cannot bring pencils, or colored pencils outside as this could become a poking hazard.
The following actions may cause a student to be referred to the Reset Station:
Fighting.
Throwing rocks, sand/dirt or other dangerous items.
Insubordination to teachers or other playground supervisors.
Repeated minor violations.
