ARRIVAL, DISMISSAL, & SCHOOL VISIT PLANS

Traffic, Parking, and Pick Ups

Buses will drop students off at the front of the building. DO NOT pull into the bus lane to drop off your child in the morning. All parents dropping-off students must do so in the parking areas or on the side streets. Use extra caution while in these areas.

Bicycles

Students may ride bicycles to school.  Bike riders are encouraged to observe safe and lawful practices including wearing a helmet.  Students are expected to place their bicycles in the rack provided on campus.  Those bringing bicycles to school are encouraged to provide some form of locking device to discourage borrowing or stealing bicycles. The school district is not liable for any stolen items.

End of Day Transportation

Be certain that your child knows what to do if he/she arrives home and you are not there for a short time.

Your child will be sent home in accordance with the after school plan on file with the office unless we receive a note or a phone call with different (explicit) instructions.  It is best if you send a note in the morning with your child.  The note should include the child’s name, teacher, where the child is going, including an address, a phone number, and a parent signature.  If you need to call, please do so before 2:00 p.m.; this helps provide enough time to ensure your child gets the note.

Bus Riders

Kindergarten students riding the bus will need to have an adult present at the bus stop. If no adult is present, the student will remain on the bus and be returned to Ocean Crest at the end of the route. Parents will be responsible for picking the student up as soon as possible.

If you need to take your child off the bus, please do not ask your students to get off the bus once they have loaded.  Report to the office, where we will call for your student to meet you.

If your child does not arrive home at his/her usual time, please call the Ocean Crest office at 541-347-4416, or you may call the transportation department directly at 541-347-4412.  Children may get on the wrong bus or may have missed the bus. If this should occur, we will notify you as soon as it comes to our attention.  Children will not be kept after school unless sufficient notice has been given to the parent beforehand.  No child is permitted to leave the school grounds without written permission from parents or guardians.  All children who are leaving school early will be checked out through the office.

Parent Pickup

Parent Pickup dismissal will be handled using our bus lane AFTER buses have left for the day. If you arrive prior to 3:13 pm, please park in our lot.

Teachers will check students off as they report to their parents. This will help ensure the safety of our students.

All parents picking up students in front of the school, on the side streets, or in the parking areas are reminded to use extra caution while in the area. Any students not picked up in a timely manner will be delivered to the office to call home. If you need to take your child off the bus, please do not ask your students to get off the bus once they have loaded. Report to the office, where we will call for your student to meet you.

It is vital that parents keep the school informed as to emergency phone numbers and an emergency care provider in the event they cannot be reached.  Parents should always have someone who can care for their child in the event of an emergency.

Leaving School Grounds

No child will leave the school grounds without written permission from parents or guardians.

Retention After School

Children will not be kept after school unless sufficient notice has been given to the parent/gaurdian beforehand.

Visitors/Volunteers

We are excited to be able to have volunteers in the building.

Volunteers must also fill out a Criminal History Verification Application and pay a $5 fee. This form can be found at the school’s office. The background checks are good for 2 years.

Teachers will communicate with the families in their classrooms to arrange a schedule for volunteers.

All visitors are required to report to the school office and will be issued a visitor’s badge. Please check out at the office when you leave, as well.
