PROGRAM NOTE?

How was your day? Do you feel welcome? Do you usually read the program note? Some do, but MANY DON'T! The intent of the program note is to offer context for the material in the performance. Maybe some historical background, or polite commentary on what you're about to see, with the hope of building some sort of bridge between the audience members and performers. BUT, what if the act of building bridges and connecting the dots happened THE WHOLE TIME? What if you, the one sitting in the seat, spending your precious time, energy, and attention, were continually being invited into the material clearly and directly over and over again? I'm interested in breaking down the formality of the concert ritual so that people feel at ease and continually welcomed to connect their lived experience to what they're watching, listening to, and feeling IN REAL TIME. This is all the program note you're going to get for now BECAUSE the real program note is going to unfold right in front of you throughout the show. So, take a deep breath, filling every millimeter of your lungs, then exhale and feel your body sing into your seat. Now do that two more times. But actually: DO IT NOW. And see you on the other side.  / DAVÓNE TINES
