Prerequisite: “C” or better in Design 1 or high school course equivalent or instructor approval
Description: This is an introductory course offering students experiences in printmaking, specifically relief and stencil processes (may include monotype, woodblock or linoleum block, cut-stencil, photo-silkscreen, mixed media). Application and close examination of the elements of art and principles of design through the observation, development, production, and criticism of design in a variety of printmaking processes. Conceptual ideation exploring larger themes of identity & personal narrative, propaganda & social isues will be developed. Printmakers and prints of various cultures and periods will be discussed and analyzed.
2-Dimensional (FVN2000) (Open to Grades 11-12) 1 Credit/Year
Prerequisite: “C” or better in Printmaking 1 or high school course equivalent or instructor approval
Description: This is an intermediate course offering students opportunities to expand their printmaking experience and to pursue preferred modes of printmaking in depth - includes all previously covered relief and stencil processes. Refined application and close examination of the elements of art and principles of design continue to be a focus. Student will begin the development of a series of works (Concentration) based on the personal exploration, investigation, or focus on a specific area of interest or theme.
