Prerequisite: Successful completion of Drawing & Painting 1 & 2 or Ceramics I & 2 or equivalent (2 years high school art), high degree of self-motivation, consent of instructor.
Description: A course designed for students to continue studies in the visual arts as an area of personal interest or to develop their talents to pursue art as a potential career. Students will analyze methods, techniques, philosophies and problems in the visual experimentation in a chosen mode of expression. Particular emphasis will be placed on self-directed problem solving and refinement of skills and techniques through research and experiences. Concentration on a specialized area of expression demonstrated by planning, executing, and completing original works of art will be focused on in addition to establishing experience for making independent, discriminating judgments about art created by self and others.
Repeatable for credit. Students may earn a maximum of two credits.
