How will AUHSD sustain the educator preparation program(s) through the provisional 2–3 year approval process, if granted?
John Walker, the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, who is responsible for AUHSD's Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology & Professional Development, will oversee all New Teacher Programming, which includes Induction. John Walker is also the direct supervisor of the Coordinator of New Teacher Support, Molly Kerr. Shelly Hadley, the Executive Assistant of Administrative Services, will work in collaboration with Molly Kerr to both identify eligible candidates for Induction and ensure candidates are recommended to the CTC for a Clear Credential once they have completed the program.
New Teacher programming and support includes: orientation onboarding, professional development opportunities, monthly support meetings with a New Teacher Mentor, collegial support via a weekly subject alike collaborative team meeting, and ed tech support offered by school site Canvas Mentor. Participating Teachers in AUHSD’s Teacher Induction Program will also be assigned a Mentor to guide and support them through their one to two year journey to earn a clear credential.
Teach-Out Plan
In the event that AUHSD’s Teacher Induction Program closes, each enrolled Participating Teacher (PT) will have the opportunity to complete their Induction requirements through the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) Teacher Induction Program, unless the PT withdraws, is dropped or is admitted to another program. CCCOE has provided a letter to affirm that each PT’s Induction journey would continue with minimal disruptions. The Coordinator of New Teacher Support will provide individualized guidance and consultation to PT’s in order to guarantee a smooth and successful transition.
To this end, AUHSD guarantees to provide the following written documentation to CCOE’s Teacher Induction Program:
An individual transition plan.
Details of remaining requirements to finish the program/year.
A transcript of completed activities through an Induction Transcript.
