Overview of Support for Induction Participants
In-Person Support
Acalanes Union High School District Induction Teacher Program will deliver weekly in-person support to all candidates. Participating Teachers and their respective Induction Mentors will decide upon a regularly scheduled weekly meeting time. Ideally, the weekly meetings will take place in the PT’s classroom. If needed, the PT and Mentor will choose another convenient location on the PT’s campus. The purpose of these weekly meetings is to foster a PT’s growth mindset and reflect upon their Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which is designed in accordance with California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CTSP).
In addition to PT and Mentor weekly meetings, every Friday morning before school begins, PTs will meet with their subject alike collaborative team to discuss curriculum and assessment. These respective meetings will account for a minimum of one hour of Induction support for PTs.
All of the weekly in-person PT and Mentor meetings will take place at one of the five campuses in the AUHSD, where the PT is teaching. Weekly Friday subject-like team meetings will be at the PT’s school campus.

District Professional Development
All faculty of the AUHSD, including Induction candidates, participate in three days of district and/or site directed professional development. AUHSD also offers opportunities for PTs to participate in the annual Summer Institute (2 to 3 days of professional development offerings).
AUHSD is dedicated to supporting teachers in creating a classroom environment where students are actively involved and achieve their learning goals, through reflective practices that enhance teaching effectiveness. To this end, AUHSD offers an array of enrichment programming to new and veteran teachers each year. Past offerings have included: Grading Equity, Professional Learning Community, Equity University and Social Emotional Learning. In addition, either district or site initiated, department members can attend professional conferences that focus on pedagogical content knowledge. All of these aforementioned professional opportunities provide teachers a chance to receive continuing education credits on the salary scale.
District Professional Development is offered at one of AUHSD campuses or online, via Zoom.
Professional Development and College/University Semester Credits
AUHSD is working with with Saint Mary’s College of California to explore avenues for Induction Candidates to earn semester credits during the Induction program.
