The Ant

Language to focus on:

  • nouns: ant, plant, pants, hat, map, backpack, snack

  • verbs: wear, eat, go

WH- Questions:

  • Who is the story talking about?

  • Where is the ant?

  • What is the ant wearing?

  • What does the ant have?

  • Where will the ant go?

Spoon Ants

You will need:

  • plastic spoons

  • googly eyes

  • black pipe cleaners

  • glue

Directions:

  1. put spoons on top with scoops on end

  2. glue spoons together

  3. wrap handles with pipe cleaners

  4. wrap pipe cleaners around spoons and bend for legs

Ladybug Apple

You will need:

  • apples

  • peanut butter

  • raisins

  • grapes

Directions:

  1. cut apple in half

  2. melt peanut butter in microwave for 15-30 seconds

  3. dip raisin in peanut butter and put it on apple for spots

  4. dip grape in peanut butter and put on apple for head

  5. use toothpick to make peanut butter line down middle of apple

  6. eat!

Ladybug paper craft

You will need:

Directions:

  1. paint CD black (or cut black circle)

  2. trace 2 hands on red construction paper

  3. cut hands

  4. draw black dots on hands

  5. glue hands on black circle

  6. cut 2 black lines for antennae

  7. cut 2 black circles

  8. glue circles on antennae

  9. glue antennae on lady bug head

STEM Project

Light up bugs

You will need:

  • flameless LED lights or glow stick

  • plastic eggs

  • thumbtack

  • pipe cleaners

  • paper circles

  • glue

Directions:

  1. Put flameless LED tealight or glow stick into a plastic egg.

  2. Close egg

  3. Poke holes through the egg with a thumbtack to insert the pipe cleaners.

  4. Put in pipe cleaners and bend into legs

  5. Glue paper circles for eyes.

  6. Draw face
