Things that fly - bees!

Bees are important for our ecosystem. They....

  • bring pollen from one plant to another

  • make honey

  • help plants grow

  • predict storms (crazy, right!?) - When you don't see bees outside, go get your umbrella.

  • bumble sounds like bubble

Hello, honey!

  • food that bees make

  • A spelling bee is a competition to see who can spell the best.

  • Connections between two things that talk about the same thing or sound alike make a joke funny.

Bee Snack

You will need:

  • banana,

  • chocolate,

  • pretzels,

  • raisins (or small food for eyes)

Directions:

  1. peel banana and cut in half

  2. melt chocolate and drizzle to make stripes

  3. insert 2 pretzel sticks for antennae

  4. insert 2 pretzel twists for wings

  5. place raisins for eyes

  6. eat!

You will need:

  • writing utensil

  • paper

Make a home for bees

You will need:

  • an empty, clean food can

  • paper strays (not plastic) or rolled up sturdy paper

  • string

  • some native sticks

  • paint (optional)

Directions:

1. Decorate can anyway you would like

2. Tie string through can

3. Cut straws and sticks to be shorter than the depth of the can

4. Fill can with sticks and straws until none fall out

5. Hang outside near flowers and water

Apple-honey Nachos

You will need:

  • apple slices

  • chocolate chips

  • melted peanut butter

  • honey

Directions:

    1. Slice the apples and spread on a plate.

    2. Drizzle honey and melted peanut butter over the apple slices.

    3. Sprinkle chocolate chips and shredded coconut on top.
