Read the story about cherry blossoms then answer the questions.

Garden Snacks

Directions:

  1. fill cup with yogurt

  2. cut up vegetables in small sticks

  3. put them in the cup

You will need:

  • cup or bowl

  • yogurt

  • vegetables and/or fruit

Language:

  • go and stop

  • tell about shape, color, size!

Rainbow Sidewalk Paint

Language to use:

  • I want ___

  • I see ___

  • I made ___

  • I like it

  • I don't like it

You will need:

  • 2tbsp cornstarch

  • 4tbsp water

  • food coloring

  • paint brushes, sponge, or cloth (something to spread paint outside)

Directions:

  1. add cornstarch, water, and food coloring to a small bowl or cupcake tin - mix well

  2. paint on driveway or sidewalk

You can:

  • write your name

  • make a road to drive toy cars or ride your bike

  • draw shapes (circle, square, star, triangle)

  • trace a family member!

  • make a mosaic - see next activity

Sidewalk Chalk Mosaic

You will need:

  • colored construction paper

  • white paper

  • markers, crayons, or colored pencils

  • glue

  • tissue paper (optional)

Directions:

  • draw outline of vase

  • draw outline of stems

  • cut colored paper or tissue paper into small squares

  • glue squares in vase

  • crumple some squares for flowers

  • glue crumpled paper on end of stems

STEM Project

Grass Hair

You will need:

  • plastic cup or milk carton

  • paint

  • paintbrush

  • marker

  • dirt (you can dig some up at the park)

  • grass seed

Directions:

  • Buy grass seed

  • Paint the outside front half of cup

  • Glue wiggly eyes or draw face on painted side of cup

  • Fill the cup with dirt

  • Sprinkle the grass seed over the dirt

  • Sprinkle more dirt over the grass seed

  • Now wait and watch your grass grow!

  • Water grass each day

  • Once your grass starts getting really long you can give it a "haircut" so it will start growing more again
