Occupational Therapist Brandy Anguiano wrote a grant to host the IDEA Experience at Pioneer. The IDEA Experience provides students with the opportunity to understand, talk about and try out different activities that help them empathize and relate to others who may have different abilities and skills. Students began their week with a school wide assembly around the concept of “same and different” and learned more about what empathy looks like and sounds like. Throughout the week, each classroom participated in a 45-minute session where they had the opportunity to experience different disabilities.
