About:
The School of Sustainability Stafford Internship Scholarship provides funds to help support undergraduate sustainability students completing an unpaid capstone internship with a non-profit organization (which may include NGO’s, government organizations, and education institutions).
The scholarship assists students in meeting costs associated with tuition/fees, books, and living expenses. Additionally, awards are not guaranteed and are subject to availability of funds.
Amount: $2,000
Deadlines: December 1 for Spring , May 1 for Summer, and August 1 for Fall
Award term: Spring, Summer, or Fall
Academic level: Junior and senior capstone eligible students
Eligibility: This application is only available to current undergraduate degree-seeking students enrolled in the School of Sustainability who are in good standing and plan on pursuing an unpaid capstone internship with a non-profit organization. The student needs to have a qualifying internship and be enrolled in SOS 484: Capstone Internship (4) during the semester the scholarship is awarded. Scholarships are awarded with both merit and need considered. To determine financial need, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an indicator used to determine need. Complete the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to be considered for financial need-based scholarships.
Essay: Students should answer essay prompts based on their experiences. It is important that students spend time preparing meaningful responses to these questions and pay attention to spelling, grammar, and paragraph structure.
Make sure you are eligible (read the eligibility criteria).
Take time to provide meaningful responses to all of the questions being asked.
Draft responses to essay questions and have someone else proofread them before you submit them, checking the following components:
Have you addressed the question while also conveying why you should receive the scholarship?
Have you structured your response using clear, concise, and organized writing?
Have you checked spelling and grammar?
If the application requires a letter of recommendation, give your recommender a heads up and give them plenty of time to prepare a recommendation. Give them information about the scholarship you’re applying for, including the deadline. Don’t forget to let them know if you are awarded a scholarship and share your appreciation for their time.
