Effective Fall 2025, new and continuing Computer Science, MS students have a course-based option, which does not require a culminating experience. This option is available for CS, MS students (no concentration) as well as for students with concentrations in Cybersecurity and Big Data Systems. It is not available for concentrations in Biomedical Informatics or Media Arts and Sciences. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 for all GPAs and satisfy all course requirements of the program.
Students admitted prior to Fall 2025 will not see this degree requirement option in the iPOS (Degree Requirements tab); however, students may choose to follow the new catalog requirement option, and "opt-out" of the old portfolio requirement. Reach out to advising if you are not able to select "Course Based" option in the iPOS Degree Requirements page.
After successful completion of the applied project, students must complete the required SCAI Graduate Alumni Survey form. This is required for graduation processing.
