Students oftentimes may see an unpaid balance on their "Tuition UG Resident/Non-Resident" line even after the PSA Award has been disbursed and applied to the account.
Click HERE to watch video on how we calculate your PSA Scholarship
This is due to the ASU payment system not being able to allocate scholarships/grants/payments towards a specific line of charge. Thus, awards may be applied to lines of changes outside of base tuition such as fees/meal plans/housing, etc.
To see whether your PSA award amount is correct, please follow the guide below:
Base Tuition for in-state students this year is $5,739 per semester.
Base Tuition for out-of-state students this year is $16,197 per semester.
Please note that awards may differ for each student and are calculated using the following formula:
ASU's base tuition - Other University Scholarships = PSA Award
To see what your base tuition is, log into MyASU.
Click on Finances at the top left toolbar, then scroll down to Fall 2024 Awards*.
Consider any ASU scholarships/grants/waivers you are receiving from ASU and subtract those from your base tuition to calculate your PSA award.
Example:
The student below is receiving $4800 from New American and is an in-state student looks like this:
$5,739 (Base Tuition) - $4,800 (New American) = $939 (PSA Award)
*Note that the awards section will include all scholarships, grants, and waivers, both internal and external, as well as FAFSA loans. The only lines to be factored into your PSA award calculation are internal awards, meaning funds coming from ASU.
**Note that we do not have an exhaustive list of all ASU awards/grants. If you are uncertain of the origin of your scholarships, please reach out to the financial aid office for clarification.

As the anchor program of the Public Service Academy, the Next Generation Service Corps was created with a new type of leader in mind. A leader who understands the complex challenges our society faces today. A leader who recognizes the need for collaboration among the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address these challenges. A character-driven leader with the courage to cross sectors, connect networks, and ignite action for the greater good.
Launched in 2015, the NGSC offers students a unique opportunity to learn about complex challenges from different perspectives, develop leadership skills experientially, and build a diverse network of that will aid them in achieving their personal goals. We envision a future shaped by leaders in all fields, across all sectors, working collaboratively to bring justice and equity to our communities and ensure the sustained development and prosperity of society and everyone in it.
NGSC places and emphasis on public service and servant leadership. Through robust curriculum, meaningful internships, and intentional leadership training and practice, students are given the tools to lead change that benefits the greater good. Students within the NGSC have control over their development as a leader and freedom to determine how they can make the greatest impact.
