Audio quality is one of the key elements for an engaging and effective podcast, and this starts with recording in an environment ideal for acoustics. Fortunately, you do not need to rent out an expensive studio - most podcasts are produced in everyday living or working spaces with a few modifications.
There are a few guidelines to consider when choosing your recording space.
1) Avoid locations that are small with hard or flat surfaces - this can make sound bounce off the walls and create echoes
2) Choose spaces with other objects (furniture) and material over the walls (cloth or blankets) to absorb sound. A walk-in closet with hanging clothes is ideal.
3) Move away from anything that will make background noise, such as fans, refrigerators, ventilation units, and pets
