Now that you have your recording space identified, the next step is to set up your audio equipment, starting with the microphone. You will be issued a Blue Yeti microphone for use in recording your podcasts.
1) Plug microphone into the computer USB port
2) Turn microphone on
3) Open recording software on your computer and check that the microphone is highlighted as audio input and output
You can improve the audio quality of your podcast with some simple adjustments of the microphone.
1) Speak close to the microphone - about 2-4 fingerbreadths
2) Get a consistent volume level by moving closer and further away depending on the dynamics of the speaker's voice
3) To highlight higher and lower voice frequencies, rotate the microphone stand “on axis” (speaking directly into the top of the mic head) vs “off-axis” (speaking into the side of the mic or past the mic)
4) When not speaking, move away from the mic
