Color Guard/ Drill Team

Color Guard

The Color Guard team is a collection of individuals who practice a particular form of Drill which is used exclusively for ceremonies. Typically, a group of four cadets; two rifles, an American flag, and Air Force flag will perform in ceremonies. This group of individuals learn to march through venues while carrying flags and rifles to honor guests and concepts which our Air Force holds dear. In addition to standard presenting of colors Color Guard members are taught about special ceremony practices such as the MIA/POW setting which serve to honor those who paid the ultimate price. The team embodies the ideas of professionalism and perfectionism through their appearance and conduct. Members of the Color Guard who have proven their dedication to this level of excellence can also be recognized by the white cord which they wear on their uniform as proof of their attention to detail regarding marching.

Drill Team

The Drill Team is comprised of a collection of cadets who seek to improve their ability to conduct Drill and Ceremonies in a relaxed environment in accordance with regulations. Drill Team at Detachment 025 has two primary functions; to allow cadets to practice drill outside of training hours and allow cadets to learn an additional form of drill called exhibition rifle drill. Cadets on the Drill Team gain the opportunity to work with one another to practice commands they have learned in their flights or ask about and practice various other commands contained within AFI 36-2203. Exhibition rifle drill, commonly referred to as simple “Armed Drill” is a form of Drill and Ceremony performed with M1903 Springfield Dummy Rifles. In this variety of drill cadets may conduct various rifle spins and throws in a manner demonstrating precision and confidence in drill. The purpose behind the Drill Team involves giving cadets additional confidence in their ability to drill with precision both individually and within a flight.
