BLUF: The 90th Cyberspace Operations Squadron (COS) is offering up to allocations for AFROTC cadets to participate in their Cyber Camp Internship 5-10 August (including travel days) in San Antonio, TX.


SUMMARY: This internship is part of a larger effort from the 67 Cyberspace Wing to increase talent within the Cyber Mission Forces (CMF) through recruiting and interest-generating efforts. The Cyber Camp is an opportunity for AFROTC cadets to shadow and assist developers at the 90th COS at their state-of-the art office space (Shadow’s Edge or SHED) in downtown San Antonio, TX. The 90th COS is the only native unit in the Air Force responsible for generating technical capabilities for the CMF. Interested cadet participants will apply direct to the Cyber Camp staff. BLUF: The AFIT ICE SIP will start accepting applications 1 Dec 23 to 28 Feb 24 (https://www.afit.edu/ice/newapp/review.cfm). Program begins 10 Jul 24 and runs through 09 Aug 24.


Summary: The objective of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Immersive Cyber Education (ICE) Summer Internship Program is to develop the next generation of cybersecurity leaders. Cadets will attend an intense program that immerses participants in the cybersecurity discipline while providing leadership development opportunities.  The underlying philosophy of ICE is to provide the cadets cybersecurity principles through intense coursework and lab-based experiences at AFIT’s cyber research facilities. This program covers a wide variety of cybersecurity related disciplines to develop original thinkers and technical leaders who can solve real-world problems in cybersecurity. Eligibility:

-        U.S. citizen

-        AS300 cadet and exceptional AS200 candidates may be considered

-        Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher

-        Cadets must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Students with a major in a different technical discipline who have a strong computer background are also eligible. (AFIT Requirement)

LLNL SIP is for AFROTC cadets and 2nd Lieutenant graduates awaiting assignment to gain hands-on experience in support of leading-edge science and engineering tools to solve challenges in:  Warfighter support, nonproliferation, counterterrorism, biological warfare, weapons theory, design, and engineering. Lasers, intelligence analyses, space exploration, energy security, and more. Projects vary and are matched to the student’s major, interests and skills and are in support of research being performed at LLNL. LLNL SIP is offered at Livermore, CA.

BLUF: Opportunity to nominate yourself for the AFGSC Summer Program.


SUMMARY: The Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Summer Program is an opportunity for selected cadets to spend two weeks at one of the Air Force’s major commands. Through this program cadets will gain a better understanding of the AFGSC mission through a two-week immersion into the command while experiencing a basic knowledge of AF base operations (support, operations and maintenance). Provide a basic understanding of why US nuclear capabilities are necessary for American, our allies, and partner’s security. Participants will begin the ODT at HQ AFGSC, Barksdale AFB, LA and travel to Dyess AFB, TX and Malmstrom AFB, MT. The program is schedule to be held on the following dates (subject to change): Session 1: 2-15 Jun 24 and Session 2: 7-20 Jul 24 (including travel).

-        Adjudicated SECRET clearance

-        TGPA and CGPA > 3.0

SUMMARY: The Air Force’s Silver Flag exercise provides Civil Engineers with a training venue that focuses on bare base establishment, sustainment operations, and recovery after attack. Participants will have the opportunity to meet different groups and organizations that operate within the Civil Engineer career field. Briefs, demonstrations, and hands-on opportunities will be provided by the Airfield Pavement Evaluation Team, the Civil Engineer Maintenance Inspection and Repair Team, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Silver Flag Combat Support Exercise, and the 325th Civil Engineer Squadron.


ELIGIBILITY: The cadet MUST meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Silver Flag ODT:

1)        AS300s or AS400s in 5-year program (not commissioning until at least Dec 24) intending to select 32E in their top 3 AFSC choices.

[CONCLUDED] Advanced Technology Research Center (ATRC) Summer Internship Program (SIP) - Suspense: 23 FEB 2024 @1500

SUMMARY: The 2024 The Advanced Technology Research Center (ATRC) Summer Program is a collaborative research internship open to ROTC cadets and university students that aims to solve real Air Force problems in sensing and autonomy technologies, including sensor processing, exploitation, object detection, tracking, recognition, navigation, geolocation, microelectronics development, and malware detection. Throughout the program, cadets will be mentored by science & engineering officers, sensing subject matter experts, and Air Force leaders. Cadets will leave the summer program with technical expertise, better knowledge of the Air Force research & development community, and a valuable network of fellow Air Force and civilian leaders. Approximate 10 cadets will be selected. Internships are held at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio and Wright-State University at Dayton, Ohio. The program training dates are 13 May 24 – 09 Aug 24. 


ELIGIBILITY: The cadet MUST meet the following requirements to be eligible for the ATRC:

-         U.S. citizen with valid driver’s license.

-         Open to any year level. Any AFSC, most applicable for 15X, 17X, 61X, or 62X. 

-        Recommend Cumulative GPA of greater than 3.0 (ATRC Requirement). 

-        Enrolled in an undergraduate degree taking at least half-time academic course load. 

-        Available to work full-time (40 hrs per week) and take personal responsibility for arranging transportation to and from worksite. Cadets will be paid an hourly wage of $19.90 - $26.50/hr, depending on their college year level. NOTE: Cadets should not rely on transportation from anyone who does not already have base access. Program administration will not be responsible for making additional arrangements on a cadet’s behalf to provide suitable transportation. 

-         Pass a background check, potentially resulting in a Secret Security Clearance. 

-        Field training takes priority and must be accomplished before other ODT opportunities.

BLUF:  ODT Opportunity for FAO Immersion in Washington DC, 2-14 Aug. 

SUMMARY: Foreign Area Officers (FAO) provide regional expertise and professional foreign language competency to build effective relationships with global partners. They develop Air Force policy positions on regional affairs of national, combined, or joint service interest and advise commanders supporting Force Protection programs, establishing cooperative relationships with Host Nation partners, and supporting the full range of Global Engagement activities, from humanitarian relief operations to coalition building in support of contingency operations and major theater warfare. Participants will be exposed to the world of FAOs by visiting the myriad agencies in Washington, D.C. that FAOs work with daily. Discussions will revolve around the FAO career field requirements as well as the various duties of FAOs and their contribution and importance to national security. The ODT will culminate with a trip to an actual embassy to see FAOs in action at the forefront of the DAF's international efforts.

ELIGIBILITY: The cadet MUST meet the following requirements to be eligible for FAO Immersion: 

1)        AS300s or AS400s in 5-year program (not commissioning until at least Dec 24).
2)        Cadets that have expressed a desire to one day be an FAO and who are majoring in a foreign language or international affairs, or those seeking an advanced degree in International or Security Studies, should be given preference.

BLUF: NSERC SIP is seeking applications for an 4-5 week paid summer internship 

SUMMARY: The Defense Threat Reductions Agency (DTRA) provides a multi-disciplinary internship program with the purpose to enhance Department of Defense (DoD) capabilities, provide the next generation of military officers with Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) experience, and better prepare future military officers to lead, fight, and win on a battlefield involving weapons of mass destruction. BLUF: Summer ‘24 ODT opportunity for AS300/4-year AS400 cadets interested in a Rated AFSCs and the ENJJPT Program


SUMMARY: The Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program (ENJJPT) Commander, NATO Airborne Early Warning Control (AWACS) Commander, Joint Force Command (JFC) Commander, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Commander are supporting cadets for a summer 2024 exposition of European NATO operations. Initially, cadets will travel to Sheppard AFB, TX and will be paired with a NATO student pilot to learn/partake in aspects of ENJJPT flight training. Next, cadets will fly to overseas destinations for cultural immersion events and for a tour of the NATO Headquarters where they will receive briefings from senior NATO leadership and view policy working groups. Finally, cadets will have the opportunity to learn about the NATO E-3 AWACS mission and speak with international aircrew and maintenance personnel.


Incentive flights / simulator time at Sheppard AFB, Geilenkirchen AB are expected but are subject to the respective unit’s mission requirements and weather.


The tentative program dates are Sunday, 9 June through Friday, 21 June (including travel).

-        Successfully completed Field Training and be an AS300 or AS400 in a 5-year program and not commissioning Spring 2024

BLUF: The National Security Agency (NSA) Experiential Tour (NET) internship provides an opportunity to expose future Air and Space Force officers to the NSA and its associated missions. Projected program dates are July through August 2024.


SUMMARY: Cadets will be immersed in real world cryptologic challenges, engage with senior leaders from the intelligence community, and contribute to classified projects. Review Execution Plan for further details.

BLUF: Virtual Strategic Deterrence Basic Course (SDBC) ODT, multiple opportunities


SUMMARY: SDBC is for cadets selected as a 13N or strongly desiring a career in strategic deterrence. Cadets attending the course will gain core competencies knowledge about the AFGSC mission. In addition, nuclear policy, strategy, nuclear command, control, and communication, and the unique aspects of the Air Force nuclear mission will be discussed. Several strategic deterrence missions are also taught within the course including, nuclear operations, U.S. nuclear forces, nuclear surety, U.S. nuclear support & infrastructure, among other things.

ODT Opportunity to earn your PPC through the JROTC Flight Academy 


The Flight Academy is targeted towards AS300 cadets competing for a rated AFSC. (Due to the 8-week duration in the middle of summer, AS200s attending Field Training will not be considered). The primary goal is to get cadets their PPC, but this is also a strong leadership opportunity as selected cadets will be class leaders and mentors for up to 20 high school students during their training.

[CONCLUDED] Women in Aviation International Conference - Suspense: 9 NOV 2023

The Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference is a 3-day event that will provide opportunities for cadets to network with women involved in the aviation industry of all ages, backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. The event will be held 21-23 March in Orlando, FL. Travel dates are 20 and 24 Mar.

[CONCLUDED] Aim High Flight Academy - Suspense: 25 October

SUMMARY: The primary objectives of the program are to provide cadets an experiential university-level flight training program, to understand the Air Force rated officer pathways, and to increase an individual’s Pilot Candidate Selection Method (PCSM) score. Cadets will be students first; however, they will also be asked to serve as informal mentors and role models for up to 20 high school students during the program. The Program takes place during the summer across the U.S. and lasts ~3 weeks. 


ELIGIBILTY:

-        US citizen or receive TSA approval for flight training

-        Open to all cadets, but specifically targeted towards GMC cadets interested in aviation

-        At least 18 years of age

-        3.0 CGPA

-        Must weigh less than 250 lbs (Aircraft restriction)

-        NOT possess a PPL and not a previous participant in Aim High Flight Academy & JROTC Flight Academy

-        Intended for students with five (5) or less FAA logged powered flight hours

[CONCLUDED] Luke AFB Trip with NGSC - Suspense: 27 October COB

We’d like to invite ROTC Air Force students to join the Next Generation Service Corps on Friday, November 3 for a full-day tour with Luke Air Force Base.  


Our tentative agenda is:

0750                    Load bus for LAFB (Tempe and Downtown campuses)

0850                    Arrive at Luke Air Force Base                     

0900-0950          Tour 309th Fighter Squadron       

1100-1150          Tour Military Working Dogs        

1200-1250          Lunch at BX and/or picnic tables 

1300-1330          Briefed by RMO

1400                    Tour concludes

1500                    Arrival to ASU campus


Bus transportation will be provided.  Students will need to bring their own lunch or money to purchase lunch.  We have up to 25 spaces available.  This is a full-day event and students are expected to communicate with their faculty if they want to miss classes on this day.  This will be an excused absence for PT.

The in-person program does cost $7,680 and includes out of pocket expenses (examples listed on the flyer). Additionally, the Commander is open to granting a Period of Non-Attendance (PNA) to cadets for this program (Exception: FY24 grads in their final semester).

[CONCLUDED] National Conference on Ethics in America (NCEA) - Suspense: 29 September

The annual NCEA is the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point flagship event on the importance of values, ethics, and character development. This year’s theme is “Developing Judgment.” USMA will bring in over 300 military academy, ROTC, and civilian students to understand and apply practical judgment to increase moral awareness and mitigate moral disengagement in the context of military and civilian professions. The conference will take place on 15-16 November 2023 at USMA in West Point, New York. (Travel dates are 14 and 16 or 17 Nov). [CONCLUDED] Mr. Dan Rice Speech - 4 October

On Wednesday, 4 Oct 23, at 1030, Mr. Dan Rice will be speaking to cadets about his recent experience as the advisor to the Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The event will more than likely be held in the Social Sciences building. The talk will last approximately an hour to an hour and a half.


Mr. Rice is the president of American University Kyiv (an organization powered by ASU). He has spent the past year advising General Zaluzhnyi, Commander in Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and is a West Point grad, Army Ranger, served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, co-founded Thayer Leadership at West Point, and is a frequent contributor on major news outlets.
