Arnold Air Society

What is Arnold Air Society?

The Arnold Air Society is a professional, honorary, service organization advocating the support of aerospace power. The “service” aspect is perhaps the foremost in the mind of many members, because of the society’s continuing contributions to our campuses, our communities, and our corps–but it should always be remembered that our primary mission is to improve ourselves as future Air Force officers.

Mission: To create outstanding Air Force Officer candidates through the implementation of additional training while working as a society to further the purpose, traditions, and concepts of the United States Air Force.

How to Join!

Every Fall, the Tex May Squadron hosts a training program. If candidates complete the training program, they become active members. Be on the lookout for information regarding an informational meeting at the start of every fall semester. In the Spring, Tex May focuses on volunteering and fundraising

Tex May Squadron

At Detachment 025 our AAS squadron is named after General Curtis "Tex" LeMay. He served in the Air Force active duty from 1929-1965. The 305th Bombardment Group was formed and trained by General LeMay in 1942, and he oversaw its participation in action in the European Theater. The B-17 bomber units deployed throughout the European Theater of Operations used the formation processes and bombing techniques he designed. The B-29 Super Fortresses, which fought the war to a close in the Pacific, were later equipped with an adaptation of these essential protocols and methods. General LeMay was chosen in October 1947 to lead the United States Air Forces in Europe, with headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany. He served as the vice chief of staff of the United States Air Force from July 1957 until July 1961, when he was promoted to the position of chief of staff.
