RULER Toolbox is ROCS's main use of coping tools. They are listed on eagle cards, Student of the Month Awards and practiced in the classroom. They are important for social skills, emotional regulation and self development. Here is a brief rundown on what they are and how to utilize them.
This tool can be used to help us understand the emotions we feel. The Mood Meter is a tool that will help us be more aware of our emotions and the emotions of the people around us.
The RED area (upper left) is the home for emotions that feel unpleasant and have a lot of energy.
Angry
Scared
The BLUE area (lower left) is the home for emotions that feel unpleasant and have little energy.
Sad
Lonely
The GREEN area (lower right) is the home for emotions that feel pleasant and have little energy
Relaxed
Calm
The YELLOW area (upper right) is the home for emotions that feel pleasant and have a lot of energy
Excited
Brave
We all have emotions all of the time. So, at any given time we can use the Mood Meter to name those emotions and share that information with others.
