The Spirit of 1917: Bolshevism and the Soviet Experiment

This week-long event was a collaboration between the History, Sociology/Anthropology, Media Studies, and English Departments of Ashoka University to commemorate the centenary of the Russian Revolutions of 1917. It aimed to cast an analytical gaze at this momentous historical event that shaped political processes and popular resistance across the world throughout the twentieth century.

The event consisted of lecture on all five days of the first week of November followed by the screening of an early-Soviet black & white silent movie.
