Intaglio

First, students created a line design of their piece on paper before attaching it to cardboard.

They then traced their design into the piece of cardboard, using a sharp metal etching tool to break through the surface.

They applied intaglio ink into the etched spots, removed extra ink, and ran their plate through the press.

The final step was to add color with various watercolor painting techniques.
